Technical Information

GPRS or WLAN

Abbot functions using a normal SIM card when connected via GPRS on the mobile phone network. In this setup, every forklift transmits the information independently to the server, similar to a mobile phone. The data transfer cost is included in Abbot’s monthly fee. This connection is best suited when there is a sparse network of forklifts or there is no WLAN network available.

A wireless local area network (WLAN) can be used so that everyone located within the network’s range can, for example, access the Internet. A network of this type is best suited for Abbot use when the same area has a lot of forklifts and building a WLAN network that covers the entire area is practical.

User interface

The Internet-based user interface is easy to manage, and access rights to read and write equipment information can be defned as necessary for each user.

User-specifc reporting templates make every-day work easier.

System

The equipment to be installed on the forklift consists of a central unit and an optional external collision sensor and iButton driver identifcation module. The information gathered of the forklifts is sent automatically to the Abbot server using either the GPRS or WLAN network. The information on the Abbot server is browsed in real-time using an Internet browser. Every
Abbot customer receives their own user identifcation information, which is used to follow the data of all of their forklifts connected to the system. The report can also be received weekly via e-mail.

Driver identification

Driver identification, which is available as an accessory, prevents unauthorised use of the forklift and enables driver-specifc monitoring. The access privileges of forklifts can also be limited driver-specifcally, if necessary. In the basic model, each driver receives their own iButton key, which turns the ignition of the forklift on and off. Based on the information in the key, the Abbot system recognises the driver and events during operation are recorded into the system driver-specifically.
